Michigan’s four-star WR recruiting target Derek Meadows postpones commitment

One of the most promising wide receivers in the 2025 recruiting class needs an extra week to make his college decision.

Four-star Bishop Gorman prospect Derek Meadows of Lax Vegas (Nev.), who is the No. 68 prospect in this cycle according to 247Sports’ Composite, was originally scheduled to announce his commitment tomorrow (Saturday, July 13). However, late Thursday night, it was announced that the 6-foot-5, 200-pound player was postponing his decision until the following Saturday (July 20).

Meadows, the No. 10 wide receiver and No. 1 player from the state of Nevada, had previously announced a “final five” that included Notre Dame, Alabama, LSU, Michigan and Georgia. Before this weekend, it looked like the Fighting Irish, Crimson Tide and Tigers had the edge. However, there were unconfirmed rumors on social media that the Wolverines could once again be a factor in the race for Meadows.

Meadows is one of several wide receiver prospects Michigan has invited on official visits this summer. The Wolverines have already received a commitment from four-star Marrero (La.) Archbishop Shaw WR. Jacob Washingtonand expect good news tomorrow when three-star receiver Destrehan (La.) Phillip Wright announces his decision. Michigan also remains in good standing with four-star Fulshear (Texas) Katy Jordan far from our Andreas Marschand fights for the four-star receiver from Red Oak (Texas) Taz Williams Jr.

Michigan currently has 15 verbal commitments for its 2025 recruiting class, ranking 12th in the country and fourth in the Big Ten behind Ohio State, Oregon and Penn State. The Wolverines’ average player rating of 91.85 is eighth-best nationally and third-best in the conference.
