The Pixel 9 series has made a big appearance on the way to launch

We recently saw the Pixel Watch 3 pass through the FCC on its way to a possible mid-August launch. Those are the signs we like to see as the arrival of phones and other devices approaches, and now we have what I can only assume is the Pixel 9 series making the same pit stop.

There are currently six Google devices listed with the FCC with the name “Phone” and the model numbers GGH2X (GC15S), GGX8B, GR83Y and GZC4K (GQ57S).

This may take some time, so stay tuned as we dig through an FCC site that’s down at the moment. Here’s what we know so far about the Pixel phones that just revealed all their connectivity details.

The big insight from this first list of devices GGH2X (154 x 76 x 11.6 mm) and GC15S is Ultra support of all 5G bands (including 5G mmW), WiFi 6E, NFC, UWB, wireless charging and surprisingly Thread support. These devices are also listed together, so it is the same phone. The device under the model number GR83Y (152 x 72 x 9 mm) has the same connectivity but, as you can see, is a slightly smaller device.

With this we have GGX8B (160x76x9mm), GZC4K (162 x 77 x 8 mm) and GQ57S. The first device is a standalone device, while the other two are the same phone, according to these documents. They all have similar connectivity to the devices mentioned above.

The big question now is which device is which. We have at least six model numbers, but really only four different devices. As for device sizes, there are also four different measurements. If we look at the devices alone, I think we can make some guesses about each phone.

Here is an educated guess from me:

  • GGH2X and GC15S could be the Pixel 9 Pro Fold (the 11.6mm thickness is a clue). The original Pixel Fold was 139.7 x 79.5 x 12.1mm when folded.
  • GZC4K And GQ57S (162 x 77 x 8 mm) could be the Pixel 9 Pro XL. The Pixel 8 Pro measures 162.6 x 76.5 x 8.8 mm.
  • GGX8B (160 x 76 x 9 mm) could be the Pixel 9 Pro.
  • GR83Y (152 x 72 x 9 mm) the smallest model could be the regular Pixel 9.

Update! (Probably tomorrow. It’s Friday and the FCC site is ruining my day.)
