“Taylor Swift Concert Ready” stadium is coming to the Philippines

“Taylor Swift Concert Ready” stadium is coming to the Philippines

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour came to Singapore for six concerts in March. These were the tour’s only stops in Southeast Asia, thanks to an exclusivity agreement the city-state’s government struck with concert promoters. Other countries in the region were not happy with the deal and therefore remained on the sidelines as Singapore benefited from the pop star’s presence. As CNN reported at the time, Philippine lawmaker Joey Salceda said Singapore’s deal with Swift was not “what good neighbors do.”

Now, politicians in the Philippines are taking matters into their own hands. As Philstar reports, Clark International Airport and Corp. today announced plans to complete a “Taylor Swift Concert Ready” stadium by 2028 at the “Build Better More” infrastructure forum in Manila. The stadium, planned as a public-private partnership, will be located within walking distance of Clark International Airport in Pampanga and will be part of the New Clark City project.

“The planning and construction plans for the Clark Entertainment Center must attract music events by world-renowned artists, including the likes of Taylor Swift,” Clark’s Augusto Sanchez wrote in an email to Philstar. Speaking at the event in mixed English and Filipino, he said, “I hope that when we build our complex, we will be ready to host her (Taylor) because the Philippines has always been a music-loving industry. Whenever there are international concerts, it’s a hit, especially with Clark, that’s easy. The airport is just there.”

One catch to this plan: Will Swift still be touring in 2028? It seems like she’ll probably be running for president or something by then, right?
