President of CBS Studios announces Blue Bloods spinoff series

Blue blood may be coming to an end, but CBS isn’t quite ready to give up on the popular brand. CBS Studios President David Stapf recently hinted at a possible extension of the franchise that would continue to focus on one or more members of the Reagan family.




Speaking to Deadline, CBS Studios President David Stapf confirmed that there had been talks about an extension Blue blood on CBS with a spin-off series. A series centered around Donnie Wahlberg’s Danny Reagan was reportedly planned, but ultimately did not get the green light. “We don’t have anything in development anytime soon, but it’s a brand, a title and a show that’s popular,” Stapf said.“We have to get it right, so we’re taking our time and trying to figure out what the next iteration of Blue blood? We still have a whole season left where we want to celebrate how good the show is all season long. we still have time to find out.”

What is Blue Bloods about?

Created by Robin Green and Mitchell Burgess, Blue blood premiered on CBS in September 2010. The long-running police drama series is set in New York City and follows members of the Reagan family, a Catholic Irish-American family with long histories in police work. Tom Selleck stars as New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan, while Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan and Will Estes play his character’s adult children. Len Cariou, Marisa Ramirez and Vanessa Ray also star.


In November 2023, CBS announced that Blue blood would end after season 14. The first 10 episodes aired on the network from February to May 2024, with the final eight episodes scheduled to air this fall. While most of the Blue blood The cast have been vocal about their displeasure with CBS’ decision to end the series, with Ray posting on Instagram that it “hurts” to end production for the last time. Former series regular Jennifer Esposito disagrees, sharing in June 2024 that it’s “smart to end it now,” noting that “everything must come to an end.”

The last eight episodes of Blue blood will air on CBS from October 2024 to December 2024.
