Michael Rea announced as CEO of the Carbon Trust, succeeding Chris Stark

The Carbon Trust has announced Michael Rea as its new CEO, succeeding Chris Stark, who will lead the UK Government’s Mission Control to deliver clean energy by 2030.

Strategic vision:

Michael Rea, who has over twenty years’ experience in climate change, has been central to the Carbon Trust since 2002. His roles have included Director of Strategy, Director of Technology Development and currently Chief Operating Officer. As CEO, Rea will work closely with Chris Stark to ensure a smooth transition.

Julia King, Baroness Brown, Chair of the Carbon Trust Board, said: “I am delighted that Michael has agreed to take on the role of the Carbon Trust’s next CEO. We are blessed with a wealth of talent at the Carbon Trust and I look forward to working closely with Michael to accelerate and amplify the Carbon Trust’s impact on climate action.

Rea’s appointment comes as the Carbon Trust prepares for a strategic realignment to increase its impact in the transition to Net Zero. The new strategy will enhance the Trust’s reputation as an innovative force in sustainability.
