Chris Chittell from Emmerdale receives special award

“Emmerdale” star Chris Chittell receives a Special Recognition Award for his work in the soap opera.

The veteran actor, who has played the role of Eric Pollard since 1986, will be the first recipient of the award at the inaugural Radio Times Soap Awards. Chittell was announced as the winner of the award today (July 12).

Chittell’s character Pollard, known only by his surname, has been an icon of the Dales for nearly four decades and is involved in storylines ranging from his intrigues to his five attempts at marriage and resuming his relationship with his long-lost son David Metcalfe.

“This award represents some of the most amazing people I have ever worked with. Not just the wonderful, kind actors, but also the crew members, past and present, who form the backbone of this great show that has stood the test of time!” said Chittell of his award.

“Pollard’s strength as a character lies in the fact that he also has a dark side. Whenever he tries to capitalize on his many nefarious machinations, he fails miserably, much to the delight and satisfaction of the audience.”

“Emmerdale” airs weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
