What is “Oshi no Ko” about?
Oshi no Ko is a manga series written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari.
It began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine on April 23, 2020. An anime adaptation has been announced for 2022, with animation produced by Doga Kobo.
The anime tells the story of Goro Amamiya and Sarina Tendouji, who are reborn as twins Aqua and Ruby under extraordinary circumstances. They are reborn as the children of Japanese idol Ai Hoshino.
Ruby dreams of becoming a shining idol like her mother, while Aqua is determined to find out the truth behind his mother’s sudden death. The series delves into their experiences in the demanding world of entertainment.
Oshi no Ko – Live-action release dates for the Japanese film and Amazon TV series
The first film to be released in Japanese cinemas nationwide is Oshi no Ko on Friday, December 20, 2024.
While details about the film’s connection to the television series are still unclear, the teaser trailer suggests that the feature film will focus on the central mysteries and follow the same themes as the manga and anime “Oshi no Ko”.
