The Sugar Creek Players announce the upcoming production of “The Wedding Singer” – a musical comedy that promises to be a spectacular success. The show runs July 26-28 and August 2-4, with performances on Friday and Saturday nights and matinee performances on Sunday.

Directed by Brian Swick, with musical direction by Jennie Swick and choreography by Megan Birk, this production will captivate audiences with its dynamic performances and stirring music. The show is produced by Correna and Laurie Vellner, who are also part of the cast.

The Wedding Singer features an all-star cast including veteran Sugar Creek Player actors Dustin Gardner, Eli Reeves, Peyton Suiter and Carrie Pool. In addition, SCP welcomes Crawfordsville High School graduate Cimbria Bowling as the lead actress. Her presence on stage is highly anticipated and adds a special magic to this lively production.

Set in 1985, “The Wedding” is based on the hit film by Adam Sandler. The film tells the story of Robbie Hart, a charming and lovable wedding singer who falls in love with waitress Julia Sullivan. This romantic comedy full of catchy melodies and emotional moments takes audiences back to the 80s with its nostalgic flair and infectious energy.

“Set in the ’80s, ‘The Wedding Singer’ is a trip down memory lane with a hilarious and heartwarming story,” said Brian Swick. “Our cast brings talent and enthusiasm, ensuring that every performance is electrifying.”

Swick added that supporting community theaters like the Sugar Creek Players is critical because it promotes local talent, brings people together and enriches the community culture.

“Community theater brings people from all walks of life together, creating strong bonds and a sense of belonging,” he said. “The Sugar Creek Players provide affordable access to quality arts and entertainment, making it more accessible to everyone. When you attend shows like ‘The Wedding Singer,’ you not only enjoy a dynamic and entertaining production, but you also help preserve the arts in our community for future generations.”
