Gomez appeared on the Smartless podcast, hosted by Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett, earlier this year and talked about her plans for her music career.

Following her success with Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building, Gomez is re-evaluating her priorities. Her busy schedule has pushed her music career to the back burner, but she’s OK with that. But before she retires from the music industry for good, the Rare Beauty founder hinted, “I feel like I have one more album left in me, but I would probably choose acting.”

After all the years of juggling both her acting and music careers, Gomez explained that she loved it because “it takes my mind off of bad things.” However, the intense workload often took a toll on her mental health, once even landing her in a mental institution. She hinted, “The older I get, the more I think I’d like to find something that I can just commit to.”

When asked why she doesn’t continue doing both, the Wizards of Waverly Place star replied that she has the opportunity to do so, but plans to “chill because I’m tired.”

Selena Gomez announced her upcoming, yet-to-be-titled fourth studio album earlier this year, confirming it will hit stores in 2024. The TV star told Rolling Stone that she’s in the process of writing “great” songs, and with her beau Benny Blanco by her side, there’s a good chance fans will get the next album soon.

The Golden Globe-nominated actress credits Disney for getting her start in music. After signing on to Wizards of Wavey Place, Disney wanted her to sing the show’s theme song, which she did. However, the Texan native “never intended” to be a singer, as acting was always her priority.

“They know how to package someone and make them a triple threat,” she explained of Disney, which forces her to have a solid vocal understanding. However, Gomez admitted that she may not be the “best” but loves writing songs.

The “Who Says” singer’s best-known works in the music industry include her albums “Revival” (2015) and “Revelación” (2021). According to Teen Vogue, Gomez was recently spotted in the studio with Camila Cabello, leading to speculation that she is already working on her next album.
