The Best French Fries in Southwest Michigan According to The Peop

The Best French Fries in Southwest Michigan According to The Peop

HAPPY NATIONAL FRENCH FRIES DAY 2024!! Oh yes, those beautiful golden and salty potato sticks (or curly, or curled, or waffle) which you can either share with the whole table or hoard for yourself. (Don’t worry, we don’t blame you.)

Michigan is known for its food and drink, so of course there are plenty of great places to get French fries, and here in southwest Michigan there are plenty of places to get them. But who has the best? We asked locals and they gave us the same answer.

National French Fry Day falls on the second “Fry” day in July every year, and it should come as no surprise that it’s one of those commercial holidays designed to sell more of a product. But you know what…since a lot of places have free fries or “BOGO” deals, I guess we can let it slide.

But now that we know everything we really need to know about the holiday, the question is: Where should we go to celebrate it? Well, there are plenty of places to choose from, but people in southwest Michigan have taken to social media to tell us where the best spots are.

We asked…

…and they answered.

We expected this one to pop up. Their “crack” fries with the almost sweet seasoning are unique to the region. They also offer truffle and fully loaded versions.

This tip came specifically from Chris and made it clear that there is ONE variation of fries that you are guaranteed to try again and again.

This Battle Creek burger joint serves clean, simple crinkle fries reminiscent of old-school diners. Classic.

Strange, in Parchment you would normally go to a pizza place to eat fries, but these breaded fries have that familiar “crunch” at first bite that some regular fries lack.

OK, first a pizza place, now an ice cream shop? Well, that’s something to keep in mind. Rollup on Gull Road does have some standard fries, but if you like plenty of ketchup (or other sauces) on your fries, you can also ask for the “scoop” fries.

There are several ways to try Lake Burger, and when you get there, you’ll have a few options for toppings too. But these skin-on fries always look good.

A fast food joint, yes, but is there really anything better than a portion of crinkle fries with those butter burgers?

Okay, I’ll be honest, I haven’t had them. In fact, there are only TWO types of fries on this list that I’ve never had (more on that later), but I’ve heard good things about them and I’m a fan of thick cut steak fries… they have more ketchup and mustard in them.

Oh, you like fries? Here’s a whole bag of them with a burger on the side.

And finally….

I don’t know who Troy is, but his comment on our entry, compared to Hopcat, McDonald’s, Lake Burger and all the other entrants, shows confidence. So… where’s our invitation, Troy?
