Who is Myles Smith?

Myles Smith is an English singer and songwriter who recently hit the charts with his hit single “Stargazing”. He taught himself to play guitar and piano at a young age and was performing at local open mic nights by the age of 12.

Although he became a household name with his song “Stargazing,” you may also recognize his vocals from his various viral cover songs that he has been posting on TikTok since 2020. His most popular cover songs include an acoustic version of “Sweater Weather” by The Neighbourhood as well as “I Found” by Amber Run.

“Covers (were) a way to find an audience that I thought would fit the music I was ultimately going to make,” Myles told Billboard.

Now, not only is he opening for several dates on the upcoming Imagine Dragons tour, but he also has his own headlining tour planned – including several sold-out shows.

How old is he?

Myles was born on June 3, 1998 and is 26 years old at the time of writing.

Where is he from?

The singer was born in Luton, England to a Jamaican family and grew up in Bedfordshire, where he was influenced by the rich cultural diversity of his town. The local music scene also provided Myles with a lot of inspiration, exposing him to plenty of hip-hop and grime and encouraging him to explore his own musical interests and style.

Growing up, Myles enjoyed a variety of music genres, with reggae being at the forefront, and his mother and siblings’ love of artists such as Whitney Houston, Destiny’s Child, Ne-Yo and Justin Timberlake whetted his musical appetite.

“Stargazing” by Myles Smith

Myles released his single “Stargazing” on May 10, 2024, which is widely considered to be the singer’s breakthrough hit. The song, which has since been certified silver in the UK, reached number 6 on the UK charts.

Myles wrote the song in Malibu, California, shortly after signing his record deal with RCA. The majority of the song was said to have been written in 15 minutes, Myles told Billboard: “I come back to West Hollywood at two or three in the morning and play the day’s demo over the speakers in the ceiling.”

“I remember my manager waking up on the couch and asking, ‘What is that?’ Everyone in the house was running and jumping around. When my team – my harshest critics after my mother – gave me that honest reaction, I knew I was onto something.”
