BMI was proud to co-sponsor the Cutting Edge Group’s annual Chris Difford Songwriting Retreat. Held at Pennard House in Somerset, England and hosted by legendary songwriter and Squeeze co-founder Chris Difford, this prestigious songwriting program is aimed at both established and emerging talent in an atmosphere of collaboration and songwriting. BMI was delighted to be invited by the Cutting Edge Group, who are also Chris Difford’s publishers, to co-sponsor this initiative.

In addition to the focus on songwriting, this year’s retreat offered participants an exciting opportunity to write music for drafts of upcoming films and shows. BMI’s Vice President of Film, TV and Visual Media, Tracy McKnight, was in attendance, along with BMI members Christina Perri, Jamie Hartman, Tom Howe, Fil Eisler, Jennifer Decilveo and Steven Smith.

Between June 16 and 20, this initiative brought together top songwriters, producers and artists to work on new songs in a unique environment. After the four-day workshop, the retreat concluded with a concert on the last night showcasing the music written during the event.
