Police seize phone and laptop of celebrity being questioned about Matthew Perry’s death

Police have seized the phone and laptop of an unnamed celebrity who is being questioned in connection with the death of Matthew Perry.

The “Friends” star died in October last year after being found unconscious in his Los Angeles home.

Two months after his death in December, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office determined that Perry died from the “acute effects of ketamine,” adding that it was an accident.

The autopsy also listed “drowning, coronary heart disease and the opioid buprenorphine” as causes of death.

But last month, it was announced that the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) were working together in a joint criminal investigation to determine how Perry obtained the drugs found in his system.

According to The Guardian, Perry underwent ketamine infusion therapy for anxiety and depression – something the actor discussed in his 2022 memoir. Friends, lovers and the big, terrible thing.

However, Perry’s last known infusion occurred a week and a half before his death, meaning the drugs in his body had nothing to do with an infusion.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the contents of the infusion remained in his body for three to four hours.

In a press release, the LAPD stated: “Based on the medical examiner’s findings, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), with the assistance of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the United States Postal Inspection Service, has continued its investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mr. Perry’s death.”

As “In Touch” reported, a woman was summoned for several interviews as part of the investigation.

When police arrived at the celebrity’s Los Angeles home with a search warrant, she was exercising and not present.

A source told the outlet that the celebrity was “totally cooperative” upon returning home. She was neither handcuffed nor arrested.

When the police searched her room, they apparently confiscated an iPhone and a computer.

The source told In Touch that the unnamed star and Perry met in rehab and developed an “unexpected relationship.”

The insider explained: “She has hired lawyers and has had several meetings with police since they showed up at her rehab home with a search warrant. She is keeping quiet about the situation. But investigators must have known something to get a search warrant and show up like that.”

“It’s hard to say or know exactly what role she played (in Matthew’s death), but she insists she had nothing to do with it.”

UNILAD has contacted the LAPD for comment.
