Shady is back, back again. Eminem returned to release his 12th studio album on Friday (July 12) with The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce).

The LP comprises 19 tracks and includes the previously released singles “Houdini” and “Tobey” featuring Big Sean and BabyTron, as well as a follow-up to 1999’s “Guilty Conscience” featuring Dr. Dre.

Eminem took a moment on Thursday (July 11) to explain to fans that TDOSS is actually a “concept album,” and he asked listeners to press “play” and follow the project’s order from one to 19.

“Public disclosure: Death of Slim Shady is a concept album, so if you listen to the songs in the wrong order, they may not make sense,” he tweeted. “Enjoy.”

Eminem is aiming for a No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 with his 10th consecutive solo album. The two singles he released prior to the project both blew up the Billboard Hot 100 party. “Houdini” debuted at No. 2 and was Em’s biggest hit of the decade, while “Tobey” entered the charts at No. 95.

The death of Slim Shady is Ems first project since 2020 Music to murderFittingly, it was his frequent collaborator and close friend Dr. Dre who, in March, performed at Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

“Let me tell you something, let me explain something to you right now: Eminem is working on his own album that’s coming out this year,” Dre said. “And I actually talked to him and he said it would be OK if I announced it here on this show. So, he’s coming out with an album soon, I have songs on it and it’s awesome. I’m going to hear the whole album for the first time tomorrow.”
