There is no evidence that singer Taylor Swift announced her retirement this month, as claimed online.

“Taylor Swift announces the end of her music career after the Eras tour: ‘I plan to settle down and start a family soon,'” says one of the social media postsopens new tab published in July 2024 along with a cropped version of a photo of Swiftopens new tab recorded at Wembley Stadium during the London leg of their Eras Tour.

Some comments seem to take the posts seriously, saying, “I’m happy for her. She worked so hard and gave so much to her fans, time for herself” and “I’m so happy to hear that! She deserves her happy ending!”

However, there is no evidence that Swift made such an announcement this month.

One of the earliest iterations is a headlineopens new tab published by a website called Celebrity Glee, but the main body of the article does not mention such an announcement by the US music star.

Swift’s publicist Tree Paine did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Swift’s billion-dollar Eras Tour consists of 152 shows on five continents and spans nearly two years. The first concert will take place in March 2023 and the last show is scheduled foropens new tab for December 2024.
