No injuries were reported after state police officers shot a fleeing suspect in Kalamazoo Thursday afternoon.

Shortly before 3 p.m., members of the Michigan State Police Fifth District Fugitive arrived at a home on Regent Street, off Mt. Olivet Road in Kalamazoo, to arrest a 35-year-old Kalamazoo man who was wanted on multiple warrants.

When police arrived, the man was seen walking down a driveway to the street with multiple handguns in his hand. Police said he then made “furtive movements” and refused to follow orders, prompting two officers to shoot him.

None of the shots hit the man and he was arrested without further incident. The two police officers involved were placed on paid leave until the investigation is completed.

The man was wanted in Van Buren County on drug charges and bail jumping charges. Additional charges are expected to be filed.
