Chris Ilic of NJHSREPS discusses legislative initiatives with Congressman Jeff Van Drew

MORRIS COUNTY – Chris Ilic, Vice Chair of the New Jersey High School Republicans (NJHSREPS), recently met with Congressman Jeff Van Drew in Washington, DC to discuss legislative initiatives affecting the NJHSREPS.

In a bipartisan effort, the New Jersey High School Republicans and the New Jersey High School Democrats introduced the Involve Our Youth Act in the Trenton Statehouse. In January, this bill passed both the Assembly and Senate and was signed into law by Governor Phil Murphy. The bill aims to encourage civic participation among young people across New Jersey by allowing students one excused absence per school year to participate in civic events.

The New Jersey High School Republicans are currently drafting another bill on youth military training, which they plan to present to the New Jersey State Legislature soon.

Founded in January 2021, the New Jersey High School Republicans (NJHSREPS) serves as the official youth organization of the NJGOP. Its mission is to unite and mobilize youth interested in political engagement and change. NJHSREPS has gained recognition across the state for its public policy and campaign efforts.
