New York Red Bulls appoint Chris Moseley as medical director and Sam Goldberg as head of player personnel

The New York Red Bulls have appointed Chris Moseley as the team’s medical director and Sam Goldberg as director of player personnel.

Moseley, who most recently spent two decades as head physiotherapist at Middlesbrough FC, will oversee Red Bull New York’s medical strategy and help develop the respective medical plans for our first and second team players.

“Bringing Chris to our club will help our players enormously,” said sporting director Jochen Schneider. “His experience and expertise in dealing with athletes in our sport will help our players succeed.”

He will oversee the team’s athletic training and physical therapy staff in New York and will also work with the team’s outside physicians and medical staff.

“I’m thrilled to be playing for the Red Bulls,” said Moseley. “I’m looking forward to this new journey in the MLS with this top organization.”

Moseley played 22 seasons – 1,012 games – for Boro, initially working as a first-team physio before being promoted to head physio in 2011. He began his career as a first-team physio and spent two seasons at Stoke City FC.

Goldberg previously served as the club’s Manager of Data Science & Analytics, joining in 2021. He leads the team’s strategic initiatives and long-term planning while working with key stakeholders to incorporate an evidence-based framework into day-to-day decision-making.

“Sam is a great leader and we are excited to have him continue to grow at our club,” Schneider said. “His knowledge and expertise of Major League Soccer and our club’s goals will continue to be invaluable to the organization.”

Goldberg will oversee the club’s salary budget, roster compliance and data strategy.

“It is an honor to remain with this club and I look forward to taking on this new role,” Goldberg said.
