Williams’ hosting gig comes nearly two years after she announced her retirement from tennis in the September 2022 issue of Fashion after winning 23 Grand Slam titles. She announced at the time that she would retire from the sport to focus on her family.

“Believe me, I never wanted to have to choose between tennis and family,” she wrote in her Fashion Essay. “I don’t think that’s fair. If I were a man, I wouldn’t be writing this because I’d be out there playing and winning while my wife does the physical work of raising a family. Maybe I’d be more of a Tom Brady if I had the opportunity.”

Williams and her husband Ohanian married in November 2017 and had their daughters Olympia and Adira in September 2017 and August 2023 respectively.

In June, Williams talked about adjusting to the new normal after her retirement.

“It’s fun. It’s different. It’s a life I’ve never experienced before,” she said The New York Times“You have to understand: my whole life, since I can remember, it’s been about one thing. I don’t know anything else. And that’s why this is all new to me. It’s like a whole new career. And of course I prefer playing tennis, but that’s because I’ve been doing it my whole life. Of course you prefer doing something you’ve been doing since you could walk. That’s quite rare in a career. Usually people work to have a career, but I’ve been doing this since I could walk. So definitely a different feeling.”
