A New York Jets wide receiver could be a bargain in fantasy football

A revamped offensive line and a healthy Aaron Rodgers are paramount to the New York Jets’ projections for the upcoming season, but a playmaker who didn’t get much work done in the offseason could be one to keep an eye on for the Jets this fall.

A torn ACL ended wide receiver Mike Williams’ season with the Los Angeles Chargers last year. But when healthy, Williams can be a difference-maker for the Jets.

In 2021, Williams had 76 catches for 1,146 yards and nine touchdowns in 16 games. And in 2022, he had 63 catches for 895 yards with four touchdowns in a season in which he was limited to 13 games.

If the Jets can make the same impact with Williams as they did in the seasons before his injury, then the 29-year-old can and will make a significant contribution to an improved offense.

Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report underscored this by saying that Williams is a fantasy value pick, mentioning his injury last year:

But as recently as 2022, Williams was a top-25 wide receiver in terms of PPR points per game, and playing against Garrett Wilson should mean a lot of one-on-one coverage. He’s a steal at that modest ADP if he stays healthy.

Williams has the potential to become an excellent number 2 alongside Garrett Wilson.
