Eric Roberts claims he is “not allowed to talk about his famous sister Julia and his daughter Emma”

Actor Eric Roberts talks about why he rarely speaks publicly about his Oscar-winning sister Julia Roberts and his daughter, actress Emma Roberts.

In Monday’s episode of Podcast “Still Here Hollywood”the 68-year-old “Dark Knight” star spoke about some family matters after host Steve Kmetko asked how the “Pretty Woman” actor was doing.

“You’ll have to ask her,” Roberts replied. “I love my sister, but I can’t talk about her. She doesn’t want to talk about it.”

The actor explained why he generally keeps quiet about his relationship with his younger sister, who is known for her countless acclaimed roles in films such as “Erin Brockovich” and “My Best Friend’s Wedding.”

According to Eric Roberts, his 33-year-old daughter Emma shares these feelings.

“My daughter also told me not to talk about her, but I trip up and do it,” he said of the “American Horror Story” actor. “I’m not supposed to talk about her. But I do.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Roberts, who has appeared in hundreds of films, including “The Expendables” and “Star 80,” apparently couldn’t resist saying a few words about Emma.

“I’m in love with my daughter’s work,” he enthused. “I can’t believe how great she’s turned out.”

“I’m so proud of her I can hardly see straight. From her performance in ‘Maybe I Do’ until now, she fills me with pride and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, here she goes again,'” he added. “And I’m just so happy to be her dad because she’s awesome. And I’m so proud.”

Emma began her acting career in the early 2000s and rose to fame through leading roles in numerous projects, including “Nancy Drew,” “Scream 4,” and “Madame Web.”

Roberts then admitted that he had contributed “absolutely nothing” to his daughter’s Hollywood career.

“Except that I gave her that name,” he added.

Emma Roberts recently commented on the heated internet debate about “Nepo babies,” i.e. children whose success is perceived as an advantage of their nepotism.

The term went viral on social media after New York Magazine Cover Story in 2022 highlighted children of celebrities who benefited from family connections.

Although Emma was not mentioned in the article, she talked about the downsides of having a famous father and a famous aunt in one Interview with Flaunt magazine earlier this month.

“I’ve lost more jobs than I’ve gained through being in the industry,” Emma Roberts explained. “People have opinions and sometimes they may not be good opinions about people in the family. I’ve never gotten a job because of it, but I know I’ve definitely lost a few jobs because of it.”
