In recent years, pop sensation Taylor Swift has become known for traveling around the world on her private jet. In February, she flew from Tokyo to Las Vegas to support Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce during his performance at Super Bowl LVIII. But it appears that her use of the private jet made her the target of an attempted crime.
On Thursday morning, climate activist group Just Stop Oil posted a video on social media showing two of its members cutting a hole in the fence, breaking into the airfield and spraying two of the planes on the airfield with orange paint.
The group said they were targeting Taylor Swift’s private plane, which they believed had landed at the airport just hours earlier.

“Jennifer and Cole have cut the fence to the private airport in Stansted where Taylor Swift’s jet is parked and are calling for an emergency deal to end fossil fuel use by 2030,” said a post by Just Stop Oil on X, the social media site formerly known as Twitter.
Just Stop Oil explained the motive for the vandalism in a statement to The Independent.
“We live in two worlds: in one, billionaires live in luxury and can fly away in private jets. In the other, countless millions of people are forced to live in unbearable conditions,” the statement said.
“Meanwhile, this system that allows a few to accumulate extreme wealth to the detriment of everyone else is destroying the conditions necessary to support human life in a rapidly accelerating, never-ending ‘summer of cruelty.’ Billionaires are not untouchable, climate change will affect each and every one of us.”
While the group apparently wanted to target Swift’s jet, police said her jet was not at the airfield at the time of the vandalism. Nevertheless, the incident sparked numerous reactions on social media.
JSO targeting Taylor Swift’s private jet is pretty perfect in my opinion. First of all, she absolutely deserves to be called out for it, plain and simple. Second, if it makes Swifties mad, people will explain why she deserves it, and that kind of attention is gold.

Taylor Swift actually suffers from mental health issues and painting her private jet will probably make this worse, shame on Just Stop Oil

Taylor Swift’s jet is the only thing they could deface that some people might even support and they didn’t even get the right one https://t.co/LDRjXcOb6F

NEW: Climate activists from Just Stop Oil spray private jets at a British airport with orange paint to send a message to Taylor Swift.
A problem.
Taylor Swift’s jet wasn’t even on the runway like the group thought.

1) Taylor Swift isn’t even in the top 30 private jet users. Additionally, flights are often falsely attributed to her when she rents the jet, and some flights from jets she no longer owns have been falsely attributed to her.
2) Don’t film yourselves committing crimes, you idiots. https://t.co/kyprhoBOE7

They obviously wanted to send a message. And it looks like they accomplished that mission, even if they didn’t actually destroy Swift’s jet.
