Eminem says “Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)” is a concept album

Eminem reveals new information about his upcoming album 12 hours before its release.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, the 51-year-old rapper explained: “Public notice: ‘Death of Slim Shady’ is a concept album, so if you listen to the songs in the wrong order, they may not make sense. Enjoy.”

On Thursday, Eminem also released a new trailer for the album. The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)on Instagram, in which the musician appears to be in a dark, run-down basement, with his hands tied behind his back and his mouth gagged to a metal folding chair.

He stands with his back to the camera, watching TV. Although the TV image is static, the voice of an announcer can eventually be heard saying, among other things: “…In an astonishing move, Detroit rapper Eminem has released an album that will see him dethrone himself.”

Shortly afterwards, a robotic voice can be heard repeating “Thank the Lord, Coup de Grâce” as Eminem tries to free himself from the restraints that are holding him back.

“‘He’s locked in my basement…’ GROUNDBREAK 🤐❌ #TheDeathofSlimShady 7/12,” read the caption of the video.

Eminem recently released promotional material for the album on Instagram, including videos for his singles “Houdini” and “Tobey.”

The new trailer appears to be the first to be released since Tuesday, July 2, when he posted a video showing a woman in labor at Pompsomp Hills Hospital.

The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) will be available to stream on Friday, July 12th.
