Apple lowers trade-in values for Android devices after launch of new foldable Samsung devices

Apple lowers trade-in values for Android devices after launch of new foldable Samsung devices

After Samsung unveiled the new Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6, Apple doesn’t seem to care much about attracting Android users who want to get an iPhone instead of Samsung’s foldable phones. The company just lowered the trade-in values on some high-end Android phones, and some other Apple products have been adjusted as well.

Every few months, Apple increases or decreases its trade-in prices depending on what products it has launched or plans to launch. With the recently released M4 iPad Pro and M2 iPad Air, as well as new iPhones, Apple Watches, Macs, and iPads expected in the near future, Apple recently lowered the trade-in price on several models.

Starting with Android phones, MacRumors points out that some models have a high loss in value:

  • Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 5G: Up to $235 (was $270)
  • Samsung Galaxy S22 5G: Up to $170 (was $235)
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra: Up to $140 (was $150)
  • Google Pixel 6 Pro: Up to $125 (was $150)

If you’re only interested in value, trading in your old phone for a new Galaxy Z Flip 6 or Galaxy Z Fold 6 during pre-orders is a better option than getting an iPhone now.

In addition, Apple has also reduced the trade-in values for some current iPhone models:

  • iPhone 14 Pro Max: Up to $620 (was $630)
  • iPhone 14 Plus: Up to $400 (was $420)

Apple has also reduced the trade-in value of Apple Watch, Mac and iPad models:

  • Apple Watch Ultra: Up to $355 (was $360)
  • Apple Watch SE (2nd generation): Up to $90 (was $110)
  • Apple Watch Series 7: Up to $125 (was $140)
  • MacBook Pro: Up to $925 (was $1,010)
  • MacBookAir: Up to $485 (was $525)
  • MacBooks: Up to $130 (was $145)
  • iMacs: Up to $330 (was $420)
  • iPadPro: Up to $565 (was $580)
  • iPads: Up to $225 (was $250)

It is unclear whether Apple plans to lower the trade-in value of these models even further or whether it could increase as the company launches new products this fall.
