Support BIPOC entrepreneurs and more at the Grand Rapids Book•ish Fair

As a book lover, I am in favor of this event happening again this year!

If you enjoy reading books, love connecting with your community, or want to support local entrepreneurs and nonprofits, there is a perfect event for you.

Have you heard of the Book•ish Book Fair?

This Sunday, July 14, from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m., the second annual Book•ish book fair will take place at the Center for Community Transformation.

It’s a Scholastic book fair for adults that focuses on women and men of color! How awesome is that?!

The following books will be available for purchase:

  • provided by We Are Lit GR, an independent multicultural bookstore,
  • written by BIPOC authors.

Not only can you leave with a stack of books, but you can also just come for the vibe! The vibe is provided by one of my favorite DJs in Grand Rapids, VenusFlyytrap.

“From the carefully selected books to the vendors to the energy everywhere, Book•ish is the perfect way to spend your Sunday in Grand Rapids! It’s my second year of spinning and I can’t wait to get going.”

There are live performances, live painting, a brunch/mimosa bar and much more to experience.

What makes this event even better is that it also supports a local nonprofit and creates a community fund.

All proceeds from Book•ish benefit a local nonprofit organization: The Girl’s Choral Academy. This organization aims to “grow girls into confident young women who speak as confidently as they sing.”

As for the community fund, Book•ish founder NyeNye Aririguzo wanted to make the event more accessible. She does that and more!
