Summit Brewing expands the Goddess series this week and introduces more beers

This week’s Beers to Know roundup includes exclusives, summer seasonals and local tributes, including a new Summit Brewing IPA available as a mixed bag, a 10th anniversary taco celebration on tap and a tribute to the New York skyline.

Summit Brewing Co. launched Sága Juicy IPA in late June, the latest addition to the renowned Sága Goddess Series—and it’s packaged exclusively in the second Sága Goddess Series Variety Pack. Sága Juicy is brewed with a combination of American Citra and Amarillo hops, as well as Australian Galaxy and New Zealand Nectaron hops, resulting in a beer bursting with juicy tangerine, stone fruit, and tropical flavors like pineapple and kiwi.

“We are excited to build the Sága IPA brand by introducing Sága Juicy IPA as the newest offering in our Sága Goddess Series,” said Brandon Bland, CEO and President of Summit Brewing Company. “This latest addition to the line represents our continued pursuit of innovation and excellence. We are also excited to release our second Sága Goddess Series Variety Pack, offering beer lovers a well-rounded flavor experience.”

The Sága Goddess Series Variety Pack includes three additional varieties from the Sága Goddess portfolio: Sága IPA, Sága Hazy IPA and Sága Imperial IPA. With its wide range of flavours and profiles, the Variety Pack offers consumers a unique opportunity to explore the rich and storied heritage of the Sága Goddess Series.

Sága Juicy IPA is also available in select bars and restaurants in the Midwest.

Mike Hess Brewing celebrates City Tacos

Mike Hess Brewing

San Diego-based City Tacos, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2024, has partnered with nearby Mike Hess Brewing to release its first beer, Blessed City Hazy IPA. The brew is available on tap exclusively at City Tacos’ seven locations in San Diego County, founder Gerry Torres announced. Blessed City has an ABV of 7.0% and tastes of fresh citrus. Pints cost $7.00 and 10% of proceeds are donated to local charities.

“The name was a way to express how we feel about the place we live,” Torres said. “We are truly blessed to call America’s finest city our home. It is truly heavenly. We can’t thank our longtime friends at Mike Hess enough for collaborating on this special project. We believe the beer will pair well with any of our nearly 20 tacos on the menu.”

Torres is originally from Mexico City and moved to San Diego in 1992. He became a U.S. citizen in June 2022 in a ceremony at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office downtown. City Tacos originally opened in North Park in 2014. There are now additional locations in East Village (next to Petco Park), Encinitas, La Mesa, Ocean Beach (OB Playground), Pacific Beach and Sorrento Valley.

WeldWerks summer deals coming soon

Weldwerks Brewing Orange Popsicles

WeldWerks Brewing has announced its quarterly summer offerings, including Transmountain Diversion, WeldWerks’ hugely popular collaboration with Casey Brewing and Blending, and Orange Creamsicle, both of which will be available in the brewery’s 26 out-of-state markets in mid-July.

Transmountain Detour is a monster hazy double India pale ale brewed in collaboration with our mountain friends at Casey Brewing and Blending. This fan favorite features plenty of Citra and Nelson Sauvin hops, making it one of the best IPAs ever made. At 8.7% ABV, Transmountain Diversion offers the perfect blend of grapefruit, passion fruit and white wine grapes.

Orange Popsicles is a perfectly balanced sour beer with 4.2% alcohol content, made with vanilla, orange juice and lactose. This popular summer drink will delight your palate with its juicy taste, familiar sweetness and crisp and refreshing finish.

Torch & Crown Brewing brews New York nostalgia

Pilsner “Torch and Crown”

New York’s STATE Grill and Bar and Torch & Crown Brewing Co. have collaborated to develop a new pilsner called Sky Boy. Brewed locally in New York City and aged for over 100 days, Sky Boy features an Art Deco-inspired illustration of the iconic Empire State Building and is a nod to the city’s nostalgia, skyline and energy. It will be available exclusively at STATE Grill now and will be available at retail on torchandcrown.com for two weeks from July 1-14.

Sky Boy was created by Torch & Crown brewmaster and co-founder Joe Correia to be perfect with food or to drink on its own. With a crisp, crunchy malt flavor profile, it has a clean, doughy aroma with a light hint of fragrant hops to round it out. With a clear, golden and straw-like appearance, the finish is full, refreshing and bright. At just 4.9% ABV, it has the pedigree of a craft beer but is still easy to drink.

STATE Grill, the Empire State Building’s flagship restaurant, has long championed local farms and purveyors. With a popular happy hour and weekday dinner, Chef Morgan Jarrett caters to locals, building tenants and tourists – truly a “city within a city.”

“As Manhattan’s brewery, we are excited to create an exclusive beer for one of the most iconic buildings in the New York City skyline. The Empire State Building is bold, iconic and timeless, so we created a beer and label that embodies that character. We are excited to play a role in bringing Sky Boy to life for visitors to the Empire State Building,” said John Dantzler, CEO and co-founder of Torch & Crown.
