Amazon Prime Video orders Mexican series “No One Will Miss Us”

EXCLUSIVE: Prime Video is enjoying major success in Mexico with a TV series about five nerds who run a high school business selling homework assignments in the 1990s. Watch the trailer above.

Nobody will miss us comes from Fremantle-based The Immigrant, which is having a good week after Disney+ brought its comedy-drama series on board. Shared custody out of Champions Creator Javier Fesser.

Nobody will miss us Set in Mexico in the 1990s before the economic crisis, it is about five losers who run an illegal business at their high school. They sell homework and assignments to their classmates and their business brings them money and popularity, but hormones and an unexpected death threaten to ruin everything.

The eight-part series is directed by Catalina Aguilar Mastretta (Cindy La Regia) and Ariel Award-winning director Samuel Kishi Leopo (Los Lobos). The screenplay was written by Adriana Pelusi (Control Z) and Gibran Portela (Gueros).

The series will be part of an Amazon Mexico program that includes Who am I on the journey with Los Derbez, The key game and a local version of the LOL: The last one to laugh Format.

The show will be directed by Silvana Aguirre, founder of US, Latin America and Spain-based producer The Immigrant. “Adriana and Gibran have created a show that is deeply personal yet deeply universal, a show about friendship and its importance in our lives,” she added. “We are delighted to have worked with Catalina, Samuel and the Amazon team to bring it to audiences in Mexico and around the world.”
