BTS singer Jin will be South Korea’s torchbearer at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

BTS singer Jin has been selected as the South Korean torchbearer for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. To participate in the torch relay, he set off from Incheon International Airport on July 11. Fans and media members gathered at the airport to wish the popular Korean pop star well as he departed for the prestigious event.

Jin’s departure came nine days after the announcement of his participation in the torch relay for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris are scheduled to begin on July 26 (local time), July 27 (KST). The torch relay started in Olympia, Greece in April and will cross 64 regions in France, culminating on the day of the opening ceremony.

At the airport, Jin was greeted by numerous fans who wished him luck for the event. He was seen at the airport wearing a clean white T-shirt and white pants.

Before leaving, Jin left a reassuring message to fans on Weverse: “I’m leaving and I’ll be back.” He usually sends this message before every departure for an event to reassure his fans that he will return safely.

His role as torchbearer at one of the world’s most prestigious sporting events underscores BTS’ unique, growing global reach. His fans are eagerly awaiting the chance to see him run at the event. This opportunity will mark an important point in Jin’s career.

The exact schedule of the torch relay has not yet been released. All torchbearers, like Jin, will also visit significant historical sites representing the host country, France.

Jin got this chance a month after he finished his 18-month military service. He also made headlines when he was given the prestigious rank of “Special Class (Elite) Warrior,” commonly referred to as an “elite soldier,” within just four months of his military service.

Other members of BTS, consisting of Jung Kook, V, Jimin, Suga, RM and J-Hope, are reportedly continuing their military service.
