Will future seasons of “Bridgerton” be combined?

Anyone suffering from the Bridgerton blues can breathe a sigh of relief, because contrary to popular belief, there are currently no plans to “merge” the seasons.

Speaking to Teen Vogue on June 14, Bridgerton showrunner Jess Brownell confirmed this. “I have no plans to combine seasons,” she told the outlet. “I want each sibling to have their own season, and I know Shonda (Rhimes) wants that, too.”

Brownell was also asked in the interview about her plans for a continuation of the series, to which she replied: “I have a plan in mind of where we want to go, and Shonda and I have spoken privately about our plans for the seasons after season four, if we are allowed to continue as we hope.”

Netflix’s “Bridgerton” is based on the Regency-era novels of the same name by Julia Quinn and is set to consist of eight seasons, corresponding to Quinn’s eight-novel series.

The first season of Bridgerton told the story of Daphne Bridgerton’s (Phoebe Dynevor) relationship with the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page), the second season focused on Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and his questionable affair with Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley), and the third season finally gave fans their wishes with the wedding of Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan).

Since the season 3 finale aired, fans have been speculating about which member of the Bridgerton brood will be the focus of the upcoming fourth season. Fans have argued that Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) should be next, as his journey with his lover Sophie – which was the focus of the third novel, An Offer From a Gentleman – was skipped for the third season, while others have suggested that Francesca Bridgerton could be next.
