“I can hardly see the value,” complains Sam’s Club member after the store abolished popular discount
SAM’S Club customers are criticizing the company for an upcoming membership change.
The members-only wholesaler is introducing a new shipping fee in August.
Currently, Sam’s Club Plus members receive free shipping on all online orders
But on August 19th that will change.
The company announced that it will now charge Plus members an $8 fee for shipping on orders under $50.
This has made some buyers angry.

BUYERS REACT
Plus members pay $110 per year for their perks, leading some to question whether membership is still worth the price.
A regular Sam’s membership costs $60.
A member complained to X.
“@SamsClub, you say you ‘really value’ our memberships, but if that were true, you wouldn’t be eliminating free shipping – that’s why we upgraded EVERYONE to Plus,” they said.
“Living more than an hour away from a club, I find it hard to see the value of membership,” they said. “Executive salaries should have been cut.”
Sam’s Clubs responded to the tweet.
“Thank you for bringing this to our attention,” they said, offering to continue the conversation in direct messages.
Another member replied to this tweet.
“What a joke, Sam’s!” they posted.
They said the change had brought about a drastic change in them.
“I’m going to switch to a Costco membership too,” they said. “You screwed up this time, Sam’s Club!”
Costco offers grocery delivery in some stores for a fee.
But the fee there is only $3-5 lower than Sam’s new fee.

SAM SHOWS HIMSELF
Sam’s, which is owned by Walmart, said it “understands” the frustration but has no plans to change course.
The company told US Sun that it would eliminate fees on certain items as part of the delivery change.
“With this change, we are offering our members access to different shopping options and making it easier for them to get the products they want, when and how they want them – all designed to help them get more out of their membership,” the company said.
Costco recently raised its prices for the first time in years.
