US Representative Thomas Massie rejects conspiracy theories about his wife’s death

Republican Congressman Thomas Massie debunked “internet conspiracy theories” about his wife’s recent death in a social media post on Tuesday, two weeks after announcing her death.

On X (formerly known as Twitter), Massie said that while he was still devastated by the loss of his wife, Rhonda Massie, he wanted to clear up some untruths about her death without violating her privacy.

“She did not get the COVID vaccinations (we were both seropositive when they became available), our home is very secure, family was in the house the night of her death and an autopsy was performed (we don’t have results yet),” Massie wrote in the post.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that people get vaccinated against COVID-19 even if they have already had the virus.

Massie went on to say that the only “credible conspiracy theory” he could offer was that Rhonda Massie, “a gorgeous girl and literally a genius,” “plotted to turn a bumbling nerd into a congressman who would be unmanageable by anyone but her, by taking him as her boyfriend at age 16 and committing herself to continually molding him into something better over decades.”

Masie also said he would return to office to represent Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District and asked for forgiveness for the votes he missed “during this difficult time.”

Massie announced the news of his wife’s death last month. Official information on the cause of death has not been released.

“With Rhonda no longer with me, I will seek to revive the grace, patience and wisdom that she quietly and selflessly put into service to you,” Massie said.
