Jennifer Lawrence produces and stars in the adaptation of “Why Don’t You Love Me?”

Jennifer Lawrence is back in full actress/producer mode with a new film from A24.

Lawrence is in favor of a film adaptation of Why do not you love me?the darkly comic graphic novel by Paul B. Rainey from 2023.

Why do not you love me? follows an unhappy couple, Claire and Mark, as they struggle through their marriage while “feeling like something is wrong in their reality,” teases A24. The graphic novel describing the film is a “pitch-black comedy about marriage, alcoholism, depression and grief over missed opportunities,” with surprising twists along the way.

Lawrence also produces Excellent Cadaver alongside Justine Ciarrocchi; Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen and Emily Hildner of Square Peg also serve as producers. Rainey will serve as executive producer.

Lawrence founded the production company Excellent Cadaver in 2018. Since then, the filmmaker has been working with A24 to release his first film, “The Last Man,” in 2022. damThey also produced No hard feelingsthe raunchy 2023 comedy that brought Lawrence back into the mainstream; the actress also received a Golden Globe nomination for the role.

Variety points out that the search for the right director is currently underway.
