Real Madrid star announces emotional farewell to the club

A former Real Madrid star has announced his departure from the club for emotional reasons.

Theo Zidane is, of course, the son of Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane, who won the Champions League with Los Blancos in the early 2000s as the most expensive player of his time, before taking the coach’s seat to secure an unprecedented “treble” in a row with the UCL championship from 2016 to 2018.

Theo was unable to repeat this success as a midfielder and is now the last of the Zidanes to remain at the club following his father’s record transfer from Juventus in 2001. He has now also moved to Cordoba, where he will continue his career.

However, he wanted to say a fitting farewell to Madrid and his fans on social media and did so with a video published on his Instagram account.

“Today it is time to say goodbye to the club of my life, Real Madrid. I joined it 14 years ago as a young boy and today I can say that I am leaving it as a man. This was my home, my school, my family,” began the 22-year-old.

“I have grown as a footballer and as a person and will always carry with me the values that this club has taught me,” vowed Theo Zidane.

“I would like to thank every coach, all the club staff and each of my teammates – some of them have become friends.”

“Every moment shared, every lesson and every knowledge received was special for me. Now this stage is coming to an end and new doors are opening along the way. I have only words of gratitude. Wherever I go, I will always carry a piece of this shield in my heart. Hala Madrid!” he concluded.

In the three years 2021-2024, Theo Zidane played 93 games for Real Madrid’s reserve team Castilla and scored three goals.

However, he failed to break into Carlo Ancelotti’s first team in midfield, where he faced competition from the likes of now-retired German football icon Toni Kroos and Ballon d’Or contender Jude Bellingham, to name just a few world-class players.
