Prosecutor in Trump hush money case inundated with racist harassment and death threats

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg was inundated with racist harassment and death threats after his office led the successful prosecution of former President Donald Trump.

According to the New York Daily News, hundreds of hate messages have been received since a New York jury found the former president guilty of falsifying business records to conceal hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels in order to influence the 2016 election.

The content of the messages ranges from racist insults, including the N-word, to death threats, including words such as “wild (…) primate, fucking (…) rapist” and “GORILLA.”

Bragg, who is leading the prosecutions of Harvey Weinstein and Steve Bannon, was elected district attorney in 2021 and initiated proceedings against Trump last year. After the jury’s verdict, Bragg told reporters he was simply “doing his job.”

Bragg was exempt from a news blackout in the case that protected both jurors and key witnesses, prompting Trump to repeatedly rail against the prosecutor during his historic criminal trial.

“It’s Alvin Bragg’s fault. Alvin Bragg does nothing. He goes after people like Trump who have done nothing wrong,” Trump said in April, according to CNN. “There are hundreds of murderers all over the city, they know who they are, and they don’t catch them. They go after Trump.”

Bragg’s office now wants to include the prosecution in the news ban after the Daily News reported that prosecutors had handed over 89 cases of threats of violence to the New York Police Department.

A Utah man was killed in a federal manhunt last year after he made graphic death threats against Bragg on Truth Social, posting that he was “waiting in the courthouse parking garage” with a firearm, and making a barrage of threats against President Joe Biden and others.
