Jonas Brothers singer Joe Jonas shares plans for new solo single “Work It Out”

Joe Jonas announced on Wednesday that he will soon be working on new solo material.

The 34-year-old Jonas Brothers singer told his fans on Instagram that he will release a solo single titled “Work It Out” on Friday, July 19.

The single is the prelude to an upcoming solo studio album, which Joe revealed in conversation with Jake Shane on Thursday’s episode of his podcast Therapuss.

His announcement came shortly after his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift turned her relationship-inspired breakup song “Last Kiss” into a mashup with her song “Sad Beautiful Tragic” at an Eras Tour concert in Zurich, Switzerland on Tuesday night.

“I’m excited and emotional as I prepare to release new music,” Joe shared on Instagram.

“I am proud and grateful to be able to collaborate with some of my favorite musicians and creators. I hope you find as much happiness and peace listening to these songs as I do,” he added.

Joe shared the announcement over a short video showing a tree-covered mountain sculpture towering over the seaside buildings.

In an interview with Therapuss, the singer-songwriter talked more about his upcoming single and the accompanying album.

“I wrote this song with this amazing songwriter named Blush and Jason Evigan, who pretty much worked on 90 percent of the music you hear now. We wrote it really quickly, but the idea behind it is essentially that sometimes you realize you have to pull yourself out of something and that the only person that can fix it for yourself is yourself. No one is going to come and save you,” he explained of “Work It Out.”

“But it’s also emotional lyrics with fun music,” he continued, adding that he will probably release “a few more songs” as pre-release singles.

He didn’t reveal many details about the upcoming album, but said it would be released later in 2024.

Joe also announced a stylistically diverse album with “music of all kinds” to appeal to many different tastes.

“There are some really beautiful ballads, there are songs about being a father, there are songs about love, there are songs about being better to yourself, pretty much everything,” he said.

It is unclear whether the new album will focus particularly on his ongoing divorce from his estranged wife Sophie Turner, whom he filed for divorce in September last year.

He and the 28-year-old “Game of Thrones” actress have two daughters together: Willa, three, and Delphine, one.

Although he has been recording music as a member of the Jonas Brothers for nearly two decades, his upcoming album is only his second effort following his 2011 debut, Fastlife.

The LP proved to be a disappointing start to Joe’s solo career. Although it received moderately positive reviews, its chart success and sales were only mediocre.

After the song failed to make much of a cultural impact, Joe returned his focus to his career with the Jonas Brothers.

However, the band disbanded in 2013 but reunited in 2019. In the same year, the group released the chart hit album “Happiness Begins”.

Last year they released their sixth studio album, cheekily titled “The Album,” which peaked at number three on the Billboard 200 album charts.
