WHEELING – Gavin Goodrich, a former Wheeling Park High School golfer, won the Oglebay Park Men’s Club golf championship on Sunday when he defeated Kyle Wensel in a one-hole playoff.

Goodrich, who recently completed his first year at PennWest California University, was two strokes behind Wensel after Day 1 on the Palmer Course despite shooting a brilliant 29 on the back nine holes.

Goodrich shot a 68 on the Crispin Course on Sunday to tie at 135 (minus 7), while Wensel slipped to 70.

On the first playoff hole, Goodrich hit the short par 4 No. 15 over the green, but then needed two putts from 15 meters for a birdie. Wensel made par.

Bob Clark and Bryan Myers took third place with 137.
