Where does Green Bay Packers star Jordan Love rank among active quarterbacks?

With the start of the 2024 NFL season, Green Bay Packers starting quarterback Jordan Love will enter his fifth year as a professional. However, it will only be his second as a full-time starter, so we basically only have one year on which to judge him for now.

Still, Love had an excellent season for the Packers in 2023. Filling the huge shoes of Aaron Rodgers, who had carried the burden of the Green Bay Packers offense for so long, was no easy task.

At the start of the 2023 season, Love and the Packers quickly fell into a bit of a hole, falling to 2-5 through the first seven games. But Love was able to turn things around after halftime and lead the team into the playoffs.

By the time the postseason began, the California native had found his rhythm, which ultimately led to a surprise Wild Card victory over the heavily favored Dallas Cowboys.

With an outstanding performance, Love led the Green Bay Packers to a 48-32 victory, throwing for 272 yards and three touchdowns and achieving a passer rating of 157.2.

Despite losing a close game to the 49ers in the Divisional Round, Love had already proven to everyone that he was one of the best signal-callers in the game.

This brings us to the real question: Where does Jordan Love rank among active quarterbacks?

Since Love only played one full season as a starter, we only have a fairly small sample size for his performance and ranking.

However, with what he has shown over the past year, Love could easily be ranked in the top 15 quarterbacks currently active in the NFL. It would be entirely conceivable to even rank him as high as 10th, but that seems a bit far-fetched at the moment.

If we look at the numbers Love put up last season, his 4,179 passing yards were good for seventh in the league, while he ranked second in passing touchdowns with 32 and threw just 11 interceptions. In terms of passer rating, he hovered around the top 10 with a rating of 96.1.

But apart from that, his play was a testament to his calm and composed nature, which not only allowed him to shine after the first half of the season, but also allowed him to reinvent his long-distance passing game.

As mentioned, Love appears to be a top-15 quarterback right now, as the list of top-10 quarterbacks ahead of him is hard to refute.

For example, there is no real argument for putting Love behind players like Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, Dak Prescott, Aaron Rodgers, Matthew Stafford, Jalen Hurts, Justin Herbert, and possibly CJ Stroud.

One can also argue that Jared Goff and Kirk Cousins are ahead of Love in the quarterback rankings, which puts the current Green Bay Packers QB1 roughly 13th among all active quarterbacks in the NFL.
