Stuart Pearce makes a guest appearance in the video of an English football song

Former Nottingham Forest and England captain Stuart Pearce made a cameo appearance in a new music video about English football.

Pearce, 62, can be seen kicking a ball and cheering on young players in Northampton singer-songwriter Maddox Jones’ film “England Together.”

The song aims to raise money for a charity that uses football to support people with mental health problems.

Jones said he wanted to cheer on the England team at Euro 2024 and raise awareness of mental health issues.

The video also featured people from places such as Kingsthorpe, Abington, Spinney Hill and Semilong (Maddox Jones).

Jones made his debut as a solo artist in 2020 with the EP Headspace, which reached number four on the iTunes Singer-Songwriter chart.

His follow-up single reached number one in the same charts and BBC Introducing Northampton recommended him as “someone to keep an eye on”.

Last year he released “We All Need Somebody” to raise awareness of mental health and supports the same cause with “England Together”.

The video for the song, shot in Northampton, begins with a young football player receiving a new football and kicking it over a wall.

The ball appears in various places before Pearce is seen kicking it, then returning it to its owner and winking at the camera.

Pearce travelled with the Three Lions team to the 1992 and 1996 European Championships.

The video shows locals playing football or marching down the street singing the song.

Jones said: “We wanted to highlight the diverse cultures we have in this city and across England.

“It’s a message of inclusivity and shows how football can bring people together.”

Proceeds from the single will go to the charity Head in the Game, which promotes mental health through football programs.
