Ripe mangoes are a real treat. They are juicy, sweet and so delicious. Local singer-songwriter Angela Hunte has a “mango” you should try. It’s her latest album and trust us, this “mango” is ripe and ready to eat.

Angela Hunte (raps): “Jam on ma bomba, right on the corner. Jam on ma bomba, right on the corner.”

Angela Hunte’s latest release, “Mango,” was released on Tuesday and her work speaks for itself.

Alicia Keys (vocals): “In New York, the concrete jungle that dreams are made of. There’s nothing you can’t do, now you’re in New York.”

Angela earned her place in music history when Jay-Z and Alicia Keys recorded her anthem “Empire State of Mind.”

We met her at Bahia Mar in Fort Lauderdale to try “Mango.”

Angela Hunte: “The journey to this album took a year. Yes, it is probably the longest album I have ever had to make – the longest collection of music I have had to make in my career, and the wait was worth it.”

“Mango” gives birth to the real Angela Hunte.

Angela Hunte: “That’s it. That’s what I’ve been waiting for.”

The album combines all their talents and musical dreams.

Angela Hunte: “Here I show myself as an author. Here I show myself as an artist, as a singer, as a person who loves to produce singing, as a person, as an artist who loves to be genreless.”

For Angela, it is crucial not to be tied down to one style.

Angela Hunte: “We have a bit of everything on there and it is a testament to what I want to be as an artist.”

Angela Hunte (vocals): “That scream that night. Oh, that scream will never be heard again.”

As a songwriter, her job is to provide material to artists looking for hits. This time she was the artist.

Angela Hunte: “I had other songs that I had written for other artists. I somehow kept them.”

That’s not selfish. That’s called being smart.

Angela Hunte: “That’s something I don’t normally do. If I write something for someone, then it’s for someone, but there were so many things I wrote for other people that Me. I thought, ‘That’s me.'”

Angela thinks the sounds from Miami are top notch.

Angela Hunte: “I’m glad to be down here and in the scene, because the live music in Miami itself is slowly getting really good.”
