Summer heatwave forecast for the weekend – Chris

Summer heatwave forecast for the weekend – Chris

Sudden showers and thunderstorms, which triggered a severe weather warning for the metropolitan region in the early afternoon, will slowly subside over the course of the evening. Over time, the skies will become mostly clear, with lows at night reaching around 18 degrees.

Thursday will see the start of the warming trend towards the weekend. Highs will be between 30 and 35 degrees, but the day should be sunny and there should be fewer sudden showers. Friday will be a little warmer with highs between 30 and 35 degrees, starting just under 35 degrees, and there will also be more sunshine. There is a chance of isolated thunderstorms overnight from Friday to Saturday.

By Saturday, highs should reach 90 degrees, with dew points just above 77 degrees. It will feel like tropical humidity and summer heat in the South. Heat index readings will be in the 90s and 95s. By Sunday, highs will climb even lower into the 90s, and heat index readings could top 100 degrees in parts of the state. If this continues, there is a chance of isolated thunderstorms Saturday night and again Sunday night.

The heat will continue on Monday, with highs around 32 degrees, but an approaching cold front could push highs above 25 degrees by midweek.

Enjoy the evening!
