FIRST WARNING ACTION DAY: Dangerous heat continues until Friday

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) – Due to a strong system of high pressure, the entire region will remain extremely hot for the next few days. Temperatures will continue to be 10 degrees or more above normal.

A First alarm action day of the weather authority will remain in effect as extremely hot temperatures continue to impact the desert Southwest.

A Excessive heat WARNING remains in effect for Yuma and Imperial Counties until Friday.

To prevent heat-related illnesses, take heat protection measures around the clock.

A Air quality alarm also applies to parts of the desert in the southwest until Wednesday, as the high temperatures lead to increased ozone levels (smog).

I’m monitoring the very hot conditions and looking for possible record temperatures for the rest of the work week.

As the week progresses, moisture will begin to move in, but by the weekend it will become stickier, with increasing chances of rain and cooler temperatures.
