Drag Brunch “Sunday’s a Drag” returns to a new location, Club Fugazi in North Beach

Drag Brunch “Sunday’s a Drag” returns to a new location, Club Fugazi in North Beach

Veteran SF drag queen and host Donna Sachet has revived her popular Sunday drag brunch, which was a staple at Harry Denton’s Starlight Room in Union Square for years.

Sunday’s a Drag is back and is now held weekly at Club Fugazi in North Beach – the former home of Babylon beach blanketand recently also the venue for the acrobatic show Dear San Francisco. Host Donna Sachet is joined by some former contestants from the original Starlight Room show and others, including Holotta Tymes, Mercedez Munro and Cassandra Cass, for this weekly drag revue – and brunch.

“Although the days of Harry Denton’s Starlight Room may be over, we have found a fabulous new home at Club Fugazi, which opens up new opportunities for special effects, dynamic lighting and daring musical numbers,” says Ms. Sachet. “We welcome our former clients as well as the North Beach audience to the best drag show in town.”

Sunday’s a Drag has been around since 2004 and has become a popular hangout for local drag fans and tourists. The new show is produced by Patrick Rylee along with David Dower, executive producer of Club Fugazi, and is designed to “highlight the legacy of drag in San Francisco with surprise guests celebrating and sharing the magic,” according to a press release.

The new show also features an à la carte menu with Italian brunch created by Chef Auden Golder, as well as unlimited mimosas.

Tickets for “Sunday’s a Drag” start at $75.90, including service fees – thanks to the new “junk fee” law.

You can also reserve the Tiara Balcony for a private group of up to 35 people. Click here for more information.

Sunday’s a Drag is one of several drag events and brunches that take place on Sundays around the city, including an ongoing event at 620 Jones in the Tenderloin (also on Saturday). Beaux in the Castro offers drag brunches on Saturdays and Sundays, and the Saturday Lips & Lashes Drag Brunch at the Lookout has been going on for over a decade.

But Sunday’s a Drag was always a classier event where you could bring your mother, complete with reserved seating and a meal.

Doors open at each event at 10:30 am, brunch is served at 11 am and the show starts at 12:00 pm.
