Emilia Clarke lands lead role in Amazon’s crime series Criminal

According to the character description shared with diversityClarke’s Mallory is “a cunning and daring armed robber who is as quick with a gun as she is with her wit.” Part of a gang of robbers with her lover Ricky Lawless (Gus Halper), Mallory is further described as “a woman on the edge, living on the wrong side of the law and hiding secrets that will put her and her entire gang in the danger zone.” Having previously betrayed pretty much all of Westeros, Kingsley Ben-Adir’s Gravik, and Han Solo, evading the law should be a piece of cake for Clarke, right?

Brubaker and Philips’ comics, first published in 2006 and set in the fictional inner city, take the cliches of crime fiction and present them in a more realistic light. And the vague official description of the Prime Video series, which will feature Brubaker as co-showrunner alongside Jordan Harper (Gotham), is consistent with the comics and promises an “interlocking universe of crime stories”.
