Ariana Grande criticizes double standards towards female actresses after criticism of voice change

Ariana Grande saves her tears in the face of attacks by internet trolls Voice change for a recent clip from her performance on Penn BadgleyThe “Podcrushed” show went viral on the internet.

In the clip from the June 17 episode, the singer’s voice seemed to fluctuate from a lower timbre to a higher tone in the middle of the conversation.

The 31-year-old pop singer has faced heavy criticism on social media in the past for her voice change. She said she changed her voice to play Glinda in the upcoming film “Wicked” and to maintain her “vocal health.”

In Tuesday’s episode of the “Shut up, EvanIn a podcast with Evan Ross Katz, Grande defended her tone, explaining that a voice change is “something normal that people do, especially if they have a wide vocal range.”

The “Thank U, Next” musician She attributed her wavering voice to her “muscle memory” after years of training to play her role in “Wicked” “every single day.”

“I just spent a lot of time playing a character every day,” she said. “(I) trained my voice for a long time to do different things before I left for London and before all this happened. The voice is in the body, it’s an instrument and muscle memory is a real thing.”

The former Nickelodeon star subsequently criticized the unfair double standards that female actresses face compared to male actors when they change their accents for their film roles.

“With male actors, you see that people always say afterwards, ‘Oh, wow! How dedicated he is to his craft. What an incredible transformation! He’s a brilliant performer,'” she said. “And if, God forbid, I sneeze like Glinda or do an accent (like her), it’s just that I’m crazy or ‘someone should check on her.'”

“After I made that comment (about changing my voice), I started thinking about how this is normal, and not just normal, but I had a job to do,” Grande continued.

Grande concluded her response by admitting that it’s “weird to be scrutinized like that” while being constantly judged.

This isn’t the first time Grande has silenced the internet uproar over her voice.

In the comments section of one of the TikTok clips of her appearance on “Podcrushed,” the actress discussed her vocal range.

“I intentionally change my vocal pitch (high/low) often depending on how much I sing,” the singer commented under a clip from her June interview, which one user captioned “The vocal change??”

“I’ve always done it this way, BYE,” Grande added.
