Rumor has it that Brazilian singer Anitta will rock the stage at the Eagles’ season opener against the Packers in 2025 in Brazil

The NFL will make history in September when it hosts its first South American regular-season game, pitting the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers against each other in Brazil.

According to Brazilian broadcaster RedeTV!, the NFL is in “advanced negotiations” with pop sensation Anitta about the halftime show at the Week 1 away game.

The NFL fully expects Anitta to perform at the 2025 season opener, but nothing has been finalized at this time. Anitta has been nominated eight times for the Latin Grammy Award and is one of Brazil’s most talented singer/songwriters. She just received her first US Grammy nomination for 2023.

The Wall Street Journal previously called her an “ambassador of Brazilian music.” She has cited American singers such as Beyoncé, Rihanna and Mariah Carey as some of her main influences. She has also received worldwide recognition for her trilingual albums.

“There’s a lot of interest in the NFL (in Brazil),” NFL executive Peter O’Reilly told ESPN at the start of the offseason. “I mean, we’ve seen it. We had a Super Bowl party in Brazil last year and it was packed, so the excitement is still there. There are some legendary soccer teams around the world that are really interested in hosting the NFL and building a connection with them.”

When does the next NFL season start?

The Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, August 3. Since the 2017 season, the first preseason game is the Hall of Fame Game, which is played the Thursday before the ceremony. This year’s Hall of Fame Game will be held on Thursday, August 1.

The Chicago Bears and Houston Texans will face each other in the 2024 Hall of Fame Game. It’s unclear if first-rounder Caleb Williams or sophomore phenom CJ Stroud will play in the Hall of Fame Game. Each year, the NFL regular season begins on the Thursday night after Labor Day. The Kansas City Chiefs will host the Baltimore Ravens this year on September 5.

Two of the league’s brightest prospects, Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes, will be in the spotlight as the Chiefs begin their season for the third straight year. The Chiefs will be looking to avenge their 21-20 loss to the Detroit Lions in last year’s season opener.

Week 1 of the 2024 season will feature games on Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday. The NFL has announced that the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers will face off at the Corinthians Arena in Brazil on September 6. This will be the first time a Friday game will be played during the opening week.
