Man accused in Azle’s death admits murder

A Texas man charged with murder after a woman’s body was found in her Azle backyard admitted to police that he attacked her and disposed of her body after she was unresponsive, an arrest warrant affidavit says.

Shane Fabian Breshers, 52, was arrested Friday, two days after Heather Rachelle Treibly, 43, was found dead in the backyard of her home. Breshers was booked into the Tarrant County Jail and faces charges of murder and tampering with evidence with intent to damage a human corpse.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Azle police first spoke with Treibly’s roommate and her landlord on June 2. Her roommate and the landlord told police Treibly was last heard from on May 27, and the roommate told police she saw Treibly with Breshers, the affidavit said. Officers also seized DVR tapes from a security camera in the apartment, the affidavit said.

Police then questioned Bresher, who said he spent time alone with Treibly in her apartment on May 26 and 27, had sexual intercourse with her and used drugs with her, the affidavit states.

On June 12, Treibly’s body was found hidden in the back of the property by her landlord, the affidavit states. Treibly’s body was found wrapped in a pink sheet with electrical cords wrapped around her neck and torso, the affidavit states. A Tarrant County medical examiner told police that Treibly had broken ribs, a broken jaw and signs of trauma to her neck, the affidavit states.

The affidavit states that on June 13, investigators were able to extract the data from the DVR. The footage showed a man matching Bresher’s description pushing a shopping cart from Treibly’s apartment toward the area of ​​the property where her body was found, the affidavit states. Inside the car was a bundle of sheets that resembled the sheets her body was found in, the affidavit states.

After being arrested and read his Miranda rights, Breshers told police he struck Treibly in the head, causing her to fall, become unresponsive and have no pulse, the affidavit states. Breshers told police he wrapped her body in sheets and took it to the backyard in the shopping cart and hid it in the back of the property under a large object, the affidavit states. When asked about the electrical cords, Breshers said he did not remember doing anything to the cords.

Breshers remained jailed Thursday on $650,000 bail. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
