Here we go! Paramount Pictures just released the first trailer for Gladiator II. And listen to us… It’s awesome!
Friendly reminder: The star-studded cast includes Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, Lior Raz and Derek Jacobi, Connie Nielsen and Denzel Washington.
The long-awaited sequel will be directed by none other than Ridley Scott (Napoleon) from a screenplay by David Scarpa (Napoleon), based on a story by Scarpa and Peter Craig.

Gladiator II continues the epic saga of power, intrigue and vengeance set in ancient Rome. Years after witnessing the death of the revered hero Maximus at the hands of his uncle, Lucius (Mescal) is forced to enter the Colosseum after his homeland is conquered by the tyrannical emperors who now rule Rome with an iron fist. With anger in his heart and the future of the Empire at stake, Lucius must look to his past to find strength and honor to return the glory of Rome to his people.
Gladiator II sees Oscar winners Washington and Scott reunite. The last time they worked together was 15 years ago on American Gangster. We all know how that went – incredible, so it will be interesting to see what magic they can create in this soon-to-be epic sequel.
