Eastern Michigan Soccer announces 2024 schedule

Schedule 2024

YPSILANTI, Michigan (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University football program has unveiled its 2024 schedule, which includes 11 Mid-American Conference games and seven non-conference games, plus two exhibition games, the new head coach announced. Taylor Clarke Wednesday, July 10th.

Eastern will open the regular season on August 15 against Oakland University before a Big 12 matchup at the University of Cincinnati on September 1, which will be EMU’s first-ever game against the Bearcats. The Eagles will finish their seven-game off-conference series on September 15 at Loyola University Chicago.

Five of EMU’s 11 MAC games are at home, including the MAC opener against Central Michigan University on Sept. 19. The top six in the MAC standings qualify for the conference tournament after Eastern’s final regular season game at the University of Akron on Oct. 31.

With an NCAA Tournament berth at stake, the top two teams in the MAC rankings will skip the on-campus quarterfinals scheduled for Nov. 3 before the remaining four teams travel to face the top-ranked team for the MAC semifinals on Nov. 7 and the MAC Championship on Nov. 10.

“We are very excited about the upcoming season,” Clarke said. “Our non-conference games will be a great series of games to help us prepare for the conference.”

Remarks

» Eastern Michigan is scheduled to play three in-state opponents during the regular season (Oakland, Aug. 15; Central Michigan, Sept. 19; and Western Michigan, Oct. 13). The 2024 season will be the first time since 2000 that the Eagles will not play a road game in the state of Michigan in a season. This will be the second time in program history that EMU will not visit an in-state opponent.

» The Eagles will play three of their first four games at home, as EMU hosts Oakland (Aug. 15), Youngstown State (Aug. 25) and Purdue Fort Wayne (Aug. 29). The only break will be an away game at UIC (Aug. 22). EMU has not played three of its first four games at home since 2012, when the Eagles began the season with three consecutive home games and went 1-1-1 in the three games.

» Eastern has four non-conference road games scheduled, all of which will be outside of Michigan State. Despite this, EMU’s longest non-conference trip is 251 miles to Chicago, Ill. (at UIC, Aug. 22; at Loyola Chicago, Sept. 15). Of the longest non-conference trips each season, 251 miles is the shortest since 1999, when the Eagles went to Youngstown State (225 miles). EMU’s trip to Cincinnati on Sept. 1 is 249 miles, while the trip to Valparaiso on Sept. 12 is 214 miles.
