Watchmen Chapter I: Exclusive trailer, voice cast, box art and release date

Animation and Paramount’s R-rated animated adaptation of the groundbreaking DC graphic novels. (You can watch the new trailer via the player above or the embedded element below.)

Watchmen Chapter I will be released digitally on August 13 and on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray on August 27. Watchmen Chapter II will be released later in 2024.

Based on the groundbreaking graphic novel series by author Alan Moore and illustrator Dave Gibbons, Watchmen Chapter I adapts the gritty Cold War-era superhero saga that redefined the comic book medium in the 1980s.

The official synopsis for Chapter I reads: “In an alternate world history set in 1985, the murder of a government-sponsored superhero brings his outlawed colleagues out of retirement and embroils them in a mystery that threatens to turn their personal lives and the world at large upside down.”

Produced and directed by Brandon Vietti from an adaptation by J. Michael Straczynski, Watchmen Chapter I aims to faithfully recreate the visual aesthetics of the original graphic novels with illustrations by Dave Gibbons.
