Fans of the Oak Ridge Boys continue to mourn the loss of longtime member Joe Bonsall. Many are mourning his passing by diving into their back catalog of music and remembering why they love the band so much. Fortunately, there is footage of Bonsall’s final performance with his band.

Recently, someone uploaded concert footage of the Oak Ridge Boys to YouTube, spotlighting Joe Bonsall as he makes his big exit in 2023. The group comes together for a rousing performance of “Mama’s Table,” with Jamey Johnson writing their 2009 record, “The Boys Are Back,” and their loving affection for one another is on full display.

Afterwards, Joe announced on Twitter that he was retiring from the stage for good. He cited devastating health reasons for his retirement. He stated that basic daily activities were becoming increasingly difficult for him. “Many of you know that I have been battling a slow onset neuromuscular disorder for over 4 years,” says Bonsall. “I’m now at the point where I can’t walk, so I’ve basically retired from touring. It’s just become too difficult. It’s been a great 50 years and I’m grateful to the entire band and staff of the Oak Ridge Boys for the constant love and support they’ve given me throughout it all. I will never forget it and to those of you who have constantly supported me in prayer, I thank you and ask that you continue to pray.”

Unfortunately, Joe died just 6 months later from the effects of ALS, Lou Gehrig’s disease. Fans and bandmates of the Oak Ridge Boys have been mourning him ever since. Family and friends have to express their condolences.
